• separating the opened continuous carbon fiber bundle to be divided in a width direction thereof before the heat-setting.

• The method according to claim 17, wherein the opening, separating, and heat-setting are carried out in an apparatus that directly separates the opened continuous carbon fiber bundle after the opening, and directly heat sets the opened continuous carbon fiber bundle after the separating.

• The method according to claim 15, wherein the opened continuous carbon fiber bundle is not imparted with any sizing agent between the opening and the heat-setting.
