Ball grid array card edge connector

A system comprising:

• a processor adapted on a circuit board;
• the circuit board including a first connection area on a surface thereof, the circuit board further including a plurality of signal lines to couple the processor to one or more devices on a second circuit board;
• and
• a card edge connector adapted to the first connection area of the circuit board via a plurality of solder balls at a bottom surface of the card edge connector, the card edge connector having a housing with an opening into which the second circuit board is inserted.

A card electromechanical (CEM) connector comprising

• a housing having an opening to receive a first circuit board;
• a plurality of pins each having a first end and a second end, the plurality of pins extending from within the opening through a bottom surface of the housing, the first end of each of the plurality of pins to mate with a corresponding contact of the first circuit board;
• and
• a plurality of solder balls each adapted at the second end of a corresponding one of the plurality of pins, the plurality of pins to mate with a corresponding conductive pad on a motherboard to which the CEM connector mates via the plurality of solder balls.
