Shared tile map with live updates

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions, the instructions, when executed by a computing system, cause the computing system to:

• receive a map defined by a geographical area around an autonomous vehicle navigating a route;
• store the map in shared memory, wherein the shared memory is a specific physical block of RAM;
• and
• grant concurrent access to the map within the shared memory to downstream nodes on the autonomous vehicle as the autonomous vehicle navigates the route.

A system comprising:

• downstream nodes on an autonomous vehicle;
• and
• a node in communication with the downstream nodes, the node comprising a service to:
• receive a map defined by a geographical area around the autonomous vehicle navigating a route;
• store the map in shared memory, wherein the shared memory is a specific physical block of RAM;
• and
• grant concurrent access to the map within the shared memory to the downstream nodes on the autonomous vehicle as the autonomous vehicle navigates the route.
