- a plurality of input devices comprising a payment device supported by the housing, a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device, a wagering input device supported by the housing, a game play activation input device supported by the housing, and a cashout input device supported by the housing, and
- a processor and a memory device positioned in either the central server or the electronic video keno machine, the memory device storing a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
- for a play of a keno game:
- cause a display, via the display device, of a plurality of keno cards each comprising a plurality of spots,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, cause a display, via the display device, of an indication of a plurality of player spots selected from the plurality of spots of that keno card via one of the plurality of input devices,
- cause a display, via the display device, of a plurality of randomly drawn spot indicators that are generated by one of a random number generator and a pseudo-random number generator and that each indicate one of the spots on each of the keno cards,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, determine an additional quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card, wherein the additional quantity of extra spot indicators for one of the plurality of keno cards is based on a random determination of a quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card by one of the random number generator and the pseudo-random number generator and based on a separate random determination of an additional quantity of extra spot indicators for another one of the plurality of keno cards by one of the random number generator and the pseudo-random number generator,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, cause a display, via the display device, of the extra spot indicators for that keno card based on the determined additional quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, determine any awards associated with that keno card based on a first quantity of the player spots of that keno card that match any of the randomly drawn spot indicators and based on a second quantity of the player spots of that keno card that match any of the extra spot indicators for that keno card, and
- cause a display, via the display device, of any determined awards;
- and
- a player tracking module supported by the housing and operable with the player tracking display, the player tracking module configured to track data relating to plays of the keno game, and communicate said data to the central server.
A gaming system comprising:
- a central server;
- an electronic video keno machine physically locatable on a physical casino floor, the electronic video keno machine configured to communicate with the central server via an electronic data network, the electronic video keno machine comprising:
- a housing comprising an access door,
- a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing and configured to monitor the access door,
- a power distribution component supported by the housing and configured to supply power to a component of the electronic video keno machine,
- a plurality of output devices comprising a display device supported by the housing, a player tracking display supported by the housing, and a speaker supported by the housing,
- a sound card supported by the housing and operable with the speaker,
- a plurality of input devices comprising a payment device supported by the housing, a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device, a wagering input device supported by the housing, a game play activation input device supported by the housing, and a cashout input device supported by the housing, and
- a processor and a memory device positioned in either the central server or the electronic video keno machine, athe memory device storing a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
- for a play of a keno game:
- cause a display, via athe display device, of a plurality of keno cards each comprising a plurality of spots,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, cause a display, via the display device, of an indication of a plurality of player spots selected from the plurality of spots of that keno card via one of the plurality of input devices,
- cause a display, via the display device, of a plurality of randomly drawn spot indicators that are generated by one of a random number generator and a pseudo-random number generator and that each indicate one of the spots on each of the keno cards,
- for a first one of the plurality of keno cards, randomly determine a first additional quantity of extra spot indicators by one of the random number generator and the pseudo-random number generator,
- for a second one of the plurality of keno cards, determine a second additional quantity of extra spot indicators, wherein the second additional quantity of extra spot indicators is based on the determined the first additional quantity of extra spot indicators as modified by a separately randomly determined change in quantity of extra spot indicators by one of the random number generator and the pseudo-random number generator,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, cause a display, via the display device, of any extra spot indicators for that keno card based on the determined additional quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, determine any awards associated with that keno card based on a first quantity of the player spots of that keno card that match any of the randomly drawn spot indicators and based on a second quantity of the player spots of that keno card that match any of the extra spot indicators for that keno card, and
- cause a display, via the display device, of any determined awards;
- and
- a player tracking module supported by the housing and operable with the player tracking display, the player tracking module configured to track data relating to plays of the keno game, and communicate said data to the central server.
A method of operating a gaming system including a central server, an electronic video keno machine physically located on a physical casino floor, the electronic video keno machine configured to communicate with the central server via an electronic data network, the electronic video keno machine including a housing comprising an access door, a security monitoring circuit supported by the housing and configured to monitor the access door, a power distribution component supported by the housing and configured to supply power to a component of the electronic video keno machine, a plurality of output devices including a display device supported by the housing, a player tracking display supported by the housing, and a speaker supported by the housing, a sound card supported by the housing and operable with the speaker, a plurality of input devices including a payment device supported by the housing, a touch screen input device supported by the housing and operable with the display device, a wagering input device supported by the housing, a game play activation input device supported by the housing, and a cashout input device supported by the housing, said method comprising:
- for a play of a keno game:
- causing a display, via a display device, of a plurality of keno cards each comprising a plurality of spots,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, causing a display, via the display device, of an indication of player spots selected from the plurality of spots of that keno card via one of the plurality of input devices,
- causing a display, via the display device, of a plurality of randomly drawn spot indicators randomly selected by by one of a random number generator and a pseudo-random number generator and that each indicate one of the spots on each of the keno cards,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, determining, via a processor, an additional quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card, wherein the additional quantity of extra spot indicators for one of the plurality of keno cards is based on a random determination of a quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card by one of the random number generator and the pseudo-random number generator and based on a separate random determination of an additional quantity of extra spot indicators for another one of the plurality of keno cards by one of the random number generator and the pseudo-random number generator,
- for each of the plurality of keno cards, causing a display, via the display device, of the extra spot indicators for that keno card based on the determined additional quantity of extra spot indicators for that keno card,
