Abstract
Systems and methods of the invention relate to managing an inventory of items within a storage container. A storage container can house one or more items for distribution among one or more users such as, for instance, employees. The storage container discussed herein provides authentication of a user, tracking of the inventory each user removes or returns, video/image capture of user during access of the storage container, wireless tracking of items housed within the storage container, among others. The storage container can provide flame retardant protection and/or electrical isolation to one or more items located within the storage container.
Claims20
A flame retardant storage cabinet, comprising:
- a storage compartment having an interior configured to house one or more items, wherein the storage compartment has a door, and the storage compartment provides flame retardant protection to the one or more items;
- and
- a control bay attached to the storage compartment, the control bay comprising:
- a front face that extends in front of the door of the storage compartment, defining a sidewall that extends from the door of the storage cabinet to the front face of the control bay;
- a verification component configured to receive a portion of data from a user to complete a verification of the user;
- a locking mechanism that interacts with the door to lock or unlock the door, based upon the verification of the user;
- one or more cameras affixed to an exterior surface of the control bay, wherein the one or more cameras comprises a first camera located on the sidewall, wherein the first camera is positioned to view within the interior of the storage compartment while the door is opened;
- and
- a controller component that is configured to record media from the one or more cameras.
A storage compartment comprising:
- an interior at least partially defined by a back wall, a ceiling, a first side wall, and a second side wall opposite the first side wall;
- and
- a door comprising a door latch that is insertable into a slot on a control bay, wherein the door latch is configured to be mechanically engaged by an electronically actuated locking mechanism located within the control bay to lock the door in a closed position, wherein
- the storage compartment provides at least one of flame retardant protection or electrical isolation to the interior.
A storage compartment comprising:
- an interior at least partially defined by a back wall, a ceiling, a first side wall, and a second side wall opposite the first side wall, the interior houses one or more shelves configured to hold one or more items, the one or more shelves having at least one partition removeably attached to the back wall;
- and
- a door comprising a door latch that is insertable into a slot on a control bay, wherein the door latch is configured to be mechanically engaged by an electronically actuated locking mechanism located within the control bay to lock the door in a closed position, wherein
- the storage compartment provides at least one of flame retardant protection or electrical isolation to the one or more items within the interior.
