Abstract

A notching machine (1) for making a paper blank from a corresponding paper sheet comprises: a frame (10); a supporting surface (S) defining a worktop (P); a carriage (132), movable in parallel with the worktop (P); a primary cutting unit (141A), associated with the carriage and including a primary blade (141A′) and a primary anvil (141A″) slidable relative to each other along a cutting orientation (C) perpendicular to the worktop (P) to make a primary shear cut (T1); a secondary cutting unit (142A), associated with the carriage (132) and including a secondary blade (142A′) and a secondary anvil (142A″), slidable relative to each other along a cutting orientation (C) to make a secondary shear cut (T2); an actuating assembly, configured to move the primary blade (141A′) relative to the primary anvil (141A″) and the secondary blade (142A′) relative to the secondary anvil (142A″) along the cutting orientation (C).

Dependent claims

A notching machine for making a paper blank from a corresponding paper sheet, comprising:

a frame;
a supporting surface defining a worktop to supportably receive the paper sheet being processed along a longitudinal orientation of sheet loading;
a carriage, movable in parallel with the worktop (P);
a primary cutting unit, associated with the carriage and including a primary blade and a primary anvil, wherein the primary blade is slidable relative to the primary anvil along a cutting orientation perpendicular to the worktop to make a primary shear cut;
a secondary cutting unit, associated with the carriage;
an actuating assembly, configured to move the primary blade relative to the primary anvil along the cutting orientation,
wherein the secondary cutting unit includes a secondary blade and a secondary anvil, wherein the secondary blade is slidable relative to the secondary anvil along the cutting orientation to make a corresponding secondary shear cut, wherein the actuating assembly is configured to move the secondary blade relative to the secondary anvil along the cutting orientation.

A method for making a paper blank from a corresponding paper sheet, comprising the following steps:

preparing a frame;
loading a paper sheet along a longitudinal orientation, resting on a supporting surface that defines a worktop;
moving a carriage in parallel with the worktop;
making a primary cut on the paper sheet, using a primary cutting unit that includes a primary blade and a primary anvil;
the step of making a primary cut including a step of sliding the primary blade relative to the primary anvil along a cutting orientation perpendicular to the worktop;
making a secondary cut using a secondary cutting unit;
actuating the primary cutting unit using an actuating assembly,
wherein the step of making the secondary cut comprises a step of sliding a secondary blade and a secondary anvil of the secondary cutting unit relative to each other along the cutting orientation to make a corresponding secondary shear cut, and wherein the method comprises a step of actuating the secondary cutting unit using the actuating assembly.
