Signaling radio bearer type 3 (srb3) and secondary cell group (scg) failure handling

A method for operating a cellular network including a master node (MN) and a secondary node (SN), comprising:

• providing, by the SN, signaling radio bearer type 3 (SRB3) configuration information to the MN, the SRB3 for direct communication between a user equipment device (UE) and the SN;
• providing, by the MN, connection reconfiguration information to the UE, the connection reconfiguration information including the SRB3;
• after providing the connection reconfiguration information to the UE, providing, by the MN, second connection reconfiguration information, wherein the second connection reconfiguration information includes signaling to release the SRB3.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors of a master node (MN), the instructions to configure the one or more processors to cause the MN to:

• receive signaling radio bearer type 3 (SRB3) configuration information from a secondary node (SN), the SRB3 for direct communication between a user equipment device WE) and the SN;
• provide connection reconfiguration information to the LE, the connection reconfiguration information including the SRB3;
• after providing the connection reconfiguration information to the UE, providing second connection reconfiguration information, wherein the second connection reconfiguration information includes signaling to release the SRB3.
