Color accent generation for images in an interface

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing instructions, that when executed, control a computer system to be configured for:

• receiving a plurality of swatch configurations that each define combinations for lightness values, saturation values, and hue values;
• receiving information associated with a characteristic of an image;
• selecting a swatch configuration based on the information, wherein the swatch configuration defines a plurality of combinations for lightness values, saturation values, and hue values;
• generating a plurality of colors using the plurality of combinations for lightness values, saturation values, and hue values by varying at least one of the saturation value, the lightness value, and the hue value for the plurality of colors;
• and
• applying the plurality of colors to an interface that is displaying the image.

A method comprising:

• selecting, by a computing device, an image of a video;
• retrieving, by a computing device, information to identify a swatch configuration from a plurality of swatch configurations that each define combinations for lightness values, saturation values, and hue values, wherein the swatch configuration is associated with the image based on a characteristic of the image;
• and
• sending, by the computing device, the information to identify the swatch configuration to a client device, wherein the swatch configuration allows the client to generate a plurality of colors using a plurality of combinations for lightness values, saturation values, and hue values by varying at least one of the saturation value, the lightness value, and the hue value for the plurality of colors.
