Extracting and surfacing user work attributes from data sources

A computing system comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• memory storing instructions executable by the at least one processor, wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the computing system to provide:
• a data source accessing component configured to access a set of data sources;
• a classification component configured to classify each data source based on a structure of data from the data source;
• a data extraction system configured to extract work attribute data, from each given data source in the set of data sources, based on the classification of the given data source, the work attribute data pertaining to one or more work attributes of a given user;
• and
• a profile update system configured to update a user profile based on the work attribute data.

A computer-implemented method comprising:

• extracting data from a data source;
• analyzing the extracted data to identify an attribute association that associates a given user and a work attribute;
• identifying access permissions of the given user relative to the data source;
• and
• based on the access permissions, surfacing the work attribute with a user interface mechanism that is actuatable to add the work attribute to a user profile of the given user.
