Backing Up a Software Update of a Control Device of Transport Vehicle

A method for backing up a software update of a control device of a transport vehicle, comprising the steps of:

• transmitting a first data set representing a current software version of the control device by the transport vehicle to a server;
• storing the first data set in the server;
• ascertaining that a software update of the control device must be conducted;
• generating a second data set representing a target software version of the control device based on the first data set by the server;
• and
• transmitting the first data set, the second data set and a software packet for updating the control device in accordance with the second data set from the server to the transport vehicle.

A method for backing up a software update of a control device of a transport vehicle, comprising the steps of:

• receiving, by a server, a first data set representing a current software version of the control device transmitted by the transport vehicle;
• storing the first data set in the server;
• ascertaining that a software update of the control device must be conducted;
• generating a second data set representing a target software version of the control device based on the first data set by the server;
• and
• transmitting the first data set, the second data set and a software packet for updating the control device in accordance with the second data set from the server to the transport vehicle.

A transport vehicle comprising:

• a control device;
• and
• a transmit/receive device, wherein
• the transmit/receive device is arranged to:
• transmit a first data set representing a current software version of the control device to a server;
• and
• receive the first data set, a second data set and a software packet for updating the control device in accordance with the second data set from the server.

A server for backing up a software update of a control device of a transport vehicle, comprising:

• an evaluation unit;
• a storage device;
• and
• a transmit/receive device, wherein:
• (i) the transmit/receive device is arranged to:
• receive a first data set representing a current software version of the control device from the transport vehicle, and
• (ii) the evaluation unit is arranged to:
• store the first data set in the storage device;
• ascertain that a software update of the control device must be conducted;
• and
• generate a second data set representing a target software version of the control device based on the first data set;
• and
• the transmit/receive device is further arranged to:
• transmit the first data set, the second data set and a software packet for updating the control device in accordance with the second data set to the transport vehicle.
