Abstract
The present invention relates to new odorous acetals which are useful as fragrance or flavor materials in particular in providing vanilla and spicy notes with a natural impression resembling vanilla absolute.

A fragrance, flavor and/or deodorizing/masking composition comprising an acetal selected from compounds of formula (1), formula (2), formula (3) or of formula (4)
- wherein compound (1) is 2-ethoxy-1-(1-ethoxyethoxy)-4-methylbenzene;
- compound (2) is 3-ethoxy-4-(1-ethoxyethoxy)benzaldehyde;
- compound (3) is 2-(3-ethoxy-4-(1-ethoxyethoxy)phenyl)-4-methyl-1,3-dioxolane;
- and compound (4) is 2-ethoxy-1-(1-ethoxyethoxy)-4-(methoxymethyl)benzene.

A process for preparing acetal of formula (1), formula (2), formula (3) or of formula (4)
- from compounds of formula (5), (6), (7), (8) respectively
- comprising subjecting said compounds of formula (5), (6), (7), (8) to an acetalization synthesis step.
