Abstract
Methods and systems for managing power consumption of network devices are disclosed. An example method can comprise detecting a triggering condition and reducing functionality of a network device based on detecting the triggering condition. The method can comprise detecting, at the network device, a user device, restoring functionality of the network device in response to detecting the user device, and transmitting information to the user device after restoring functionality of the network device.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- reducing power consumption of a first component of an access point;
- detecting, via a second component of the access point, a transmission, wherein the second component is configured as a lower power component than the first component;
- and
- restoring, based on the detected transmission, the power consumption of the first component.

A method comprising:
- reducing power consumption of a first component of an access point;
- restoring, based on the reduced power consumption of the first component, power consumption of a second component of the access point;
- detecting, via the second component, a transmission;
- reducing, based on the detected transmission, the power consumption of the second component;
- and
- restoring, based on the reduced power consumption of the second component, the power consumption of the first component.

A method comprising:
- receiving timing information that indicates a period of reduced power consumption of a first component of an access point;
- reducing, based on the timing information, power consumption of the first component;
- detecting, via a second component of the access point, during the period of reduced power consumption of the first component, a transmission, wherein the second component is configured as a lower power component than the first component;
- and
- restoring, based on the detected transmission, the power consumption of the first component.
