Method and device with intelligent media management

A method for presenting content, the method comprising:

• upon determining a condition exists during reception of a content stream from a content provider, inhibiting the reception of the content stream when a content item is to be played back;
• transmitting a signal to the content provider indicating that the content stream continues to be received from the content provider;
• and
• causing a replacement content item to be presented.

A system for presenting content, the system comprising:

• a hardware processor that:
• upon determining a condition exists during reception of a content stream from a content provider, inhibits the reception of the content stream when a content item is to be played back;
• transmits a signal to the content provider indicating that the content stream continues to be received from the content provider;
• and
• causes a replacement content item to be presented.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for presenting content, the method comprising:

• upon determining a condition exists during reception of a content stream from a content provider, inhibiting the reception of the content stream when a content item is to be played back;
• transmitting a signal to the content provider indicating that the content stream continues to be received from the content provider;
• and
• causing a replacement content item to be presented.
