Impedance matching for an aperture antenna

An antenna comprising:

• an antenna aperture having at least one array of antenna elements operable to radiate radio frequency (RF) energy, wherein the array of antenna elements comprises a plurality of slot radiators;
• and
• a wide angle impedance matching structure coupled to the antenna aperture and configured to provide impedance matching between the antenna aperture and free space, wherein the wide angle impedance matching structure comprises a plurality of dipole elements.

An antenna comprising:

• an antenna aperture having at least one array of antenna elements operable to radiate radio frequency (RF) energy, wherein the array of antenna elements comprises a plurality of slot radiators;
• and
• a wide angle impedance matching structure coupled to the antenna aperture and comprising a PCB with a plurality of printed elements to provide impedance matching between the antenna aperture and free space.
