Abstract
A method of depassivating a battery may include receiving a determined state of the battery and applying, depending on the determined state, a depassivation algorithm to the battery. The algorithm may include applying a load across the battery for a predetermined amount of time that is dependent on the degree of battery passivation.
Claims16
A method of depassivating a battery, comprising:
- receiving a determined state of the battery;
- and
- applying, depending on the determined state, a depassivation algorithm to the battery.
A method for depassivating a battery by a device, comprising:
- (a) comparing a plurality of voltage measurements to one or more thresholds to determine a degree of passivation of the battery and a degree of depletion of the battery;
- (b) based on the degree of passivation:
- selecting a depassivation procedure from a plurality of stored depassivation procedures to depassivate the battery;
- and
- depassivating the battery according to the depassivation procedure;
- and
- (c) based on the degree of depletion:
- selecting a depletion procedure from a plurality of stored depletion procedures to notify of depletion of the battery or verify depletion of the battery;
- and
- executing the depletion procedure.
7 more elements
A method for maintaining a battery in an depassivated state, comprising:
- applying a resistive load to the battery at a periodic rate between two and four hours, the resistive load selected to draw approximately 20% of a maximum current draw load for the battery, and the resistive load applied for at least one second.
