Methods and system for generating a confidential document

A method for generating documents having confidential information for use in a system, the method comprising:

• scanning a document to generate a first electronic document;
• performing an optical character recognition process on the first electronic document to obtain an optically-recognized representation of the first electronic document;
• determining a character block presented on the optically-recognized representation of the first electronic document, the character block including at least one alphanumeric character;
• comparing the character block with a format of confidential information;
• identifying a confidential category of the character block based on the comparison;
• and
• generating a second electronic document by redacting the character block according to the confidential category.

A device comprising:

• a processor to execute instructions;
• a memory coupled to and readable by the processor, the memory storing a set of program instructions which, when executed by the processor, configures the device to
• scan a document to generate a first electronic document;
• perform an optical character recognition process on the first electronic document to obtain an optically-recognized representation of the first electronic document;
• determine a character block presented on the optically-recognized representation of the first electronic document, the character block including at least one alphanumeric character;
• compare the character block with a format of confidential information;
• identify a confidential category of the character block based on the comparison;
• and
• generate a second electronic document by redacting the character block according to the confidential category.
