A system and method utilizing a processor running executable instructions to maintain a referral network through which participants may refer business or potential clients. One primary feature is a ranking protocol based on referrals given. The ranking feature increases the likelihood that those giving referrals will receive referrals as well. As detailed herein, the system and method are quid pro quo in nature thereby rewarding those who assist others. In this manner, the system and method utilize reciprocity to encourage all participants to refer—not simply seek referrals. The system and method may be implemented via a computer network accessed via mobile devices. Referrals may be made and received via Apps or dedicated websites. Such a computer network provides nearly real time responsiveness benefiting both the client and the service provider.
