Abstract
My invention is a solar panel rack mounted to existing longitudinal rails on the roof of a motor vehicle that allows easy slide mounting and removal of the solar panel rack and 2 solar panels without having to climb onto the roof and without drilling fastener holes in the solar panels or the motor vehicle roof longitudinal rails. The solar panel rack is made of bent up formed sheet metal in the form of a U-channel that extends across the 2 motor vehicle longitudinal roof rails and traps the solar panel between the upper and lower flanges and is attached to the motor vehicle longitudinal roof rails with pipe clamps.
Claims3
A method to mount a solar panel rack, and secure and remove up to 2 solar panels on the existing longitudinal roof rails of a motor vehicle without having to climb onto the motor vehicle roof and without drilling fastener holes in the solar panels or the existing motor vehicle roof or longitudinal rails.
A method to use pipe clamps to attach the solar panel rack to the motor vehicle roof longitudinal rails so that fasteners and drilling fastener holes in the motor vehicle longitudinal rails or roof are not required.
A method to make a solar panel rack:
- a. Using bent up or formed sheet metal to make the U-channel shaped part along the entire edge length or width of the solar panels for secure mounting.
