Power control in nr-nr dual connectivity

A method of wireless communication carried out by a base station, the method comprising:

• transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), a transmit power configuration, wherein the transmit power am figuration identifies a maximum power for uplink transmissions with each of a plurality of cell groups, wherein a sum of the maximum power for all of the plurality of cell groups remains within a total maximum transmission power;
• transmitting, to the UE, at least one of an uplink grant or a configuration for the uplink transmissions with at least one cell group of the plurality one cell groups, wherein a transmission power grant associated with the uplink grant identifies a transmission power for the at least one cell group in excess of the maximum power;
• and
• receiving, from the UE, the uplink transmissions with the at least one cell group, wherein the transmissions exhibit an allocation of the total transmission power according to the maximum power and the transmission power for the at least one cell group in excess of the maximum power.

An apparatus configured for wireless communication, the apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the at least one processor,
• wherein the at least one processor is configured:
• to forming, based at least on uplink transmissions within a window, one or more groups of overlapping uplink transmissions among two or more component carriers (CCs);
• to identify an offset window for a joint timeline referenced from a start of a first transmission of a first cell group (CG) of the one or more groups of overlapping uplink transmissions, wherein the offset window is calculated based on a processing time between receiving a transmission grant and beginning an associated transmission;
• to determine, for each overlapping channel associated with overlapping uplink transmissions of the group, if the joint timeline is satisfied with reference to the first transmission;
• to allocate total transmission power among the first CG based at least in part on whether the joint timeline is satisfied for the each overlapping channel.

An apparatus configured for wireless communication, the apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the at least one processor,
• wherein the at least one processor is am figured:
• to transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a transmit power configuration, wherein the transmit power configuration identifies a maximum power for uplink transmissions with each of a plurality of cell groups, wherein a sum of the maximum power for all of the plurality of cell groups remains within a total maximum transmission power;
• to transmit, to live UE, at least one of an uplink grant or a configuration for the uplink transmissions with at least one cell group of the plurality of cell groups, wherein a transmission power grant associated with the uplink giant identifies a transmission power for the at least one cell group in excess of the maximum power;
• and
• to receive, from the UE, the uplink transmissions with the at least one cell group, wherein the transmissions exhibit an allocation of the total transmission power according to the maximum power and the transmission power for the at least one cell group in excess of the maximum power.
