Mechanism to improve bluetooth connection time in the presence of active cellular or wifi traffic

An apparatus of a wireless device, the apparatus including:

• an input;
• an output;
• and
• processing circuitry physically coupled to the input and to the output, the processing circuitry to implement logic to:
• determine, based on a traffic attribute relating to a communication in compliance with a first wireless communication protocol, blacklisted channels to be avoided during a discovery procedure by the wireless device in compliance with a second wireless communication protocol;
• and
• cause the wireless device to:
• avoid the blacklisted channels during the discovery procedure;
• and
• perform the discovery procedure by advertising or scanning based on a transmission schedule for the communication.

A product comprising one or more tangible computer-readable non-transitory storage media comprising computer-executable instructions operable to, when executed by at least one processor of a wireless device, cause the at least one processor to implement operations at the wireless device, the operations comprising:

• determining, based on a traffic attribute relating to a communication in compliance with a first wireless communication protocol, blacklisted channels to be avoided during a discovery procedure by the wireless device in compliance with a second wireless communication protocol;
• and
• causing the wireless device to:
• avoid the blacklisted channels during the discovery procedure;
• and
• perform the discovery procedure by advertising or scanning based on a transmission schedule for the communication.

A method to be performed by at least one computer processor of a wireless device, the method including:

• determining, based on a traffic attribute relating to a communication in compliance with a first wireless communication protocol, blacklisted channels to be avoided during a discovery procedure by the wireless device in compliance with a second wireless communication protocol;
• and
• causing the wireless device to:
• avoid the blacklisted channels during the discovery procedure;
• and
• perform the discovery procedure by advertising or scanning based on a transmission schedule for the communication.

An apparatus of a wireless device, the apparatus including:

• means for determining, based on a traffic attribute relating to a communication in compliance with a first wireless communication protocol, blacklisted channels to be avoided during a discovery procedure by the wireless device in compliance with a second wireless communication protocol;
• and
• means for causing the wireless device to:
• avoid the blacklisted channels during the discovery procedure;
• and
• perform the discovery procedure by advertising or scanning based on a transmission schedule for the communication.
