Abstract
A system for driving a tilt rotor between vertical and horizontal using a variable displacement motor controlled in response to a swash angle of the motor measured in a feedback loop.
Claims9
A drive mechanism for moving an actuator from a first position to a second position in response to an input command, the drive mechanism comprising:
- a variable displacement motor,
- means for monitoring a swash angle of the motor,
- means for monitoring the speed of the motor,
- means for monitoring an actual position of the actuator, and
- means for providing feedback control to control the drive power of the motor based on the monitored swash angle, motor speed and actual position of the actuator.
2 more elements
A tilt rotor system for an aircraft, comprising:
- a rotor;
- an actuator connected to the rotor to move the rotor between a first position and a second position;
- and
- a drive mechanism to drive the actuator between the first and second positions, the drive mechanism comprising:
- a variable displacement motor,
- means for monitoring a swash angle of the motor,
- means for monitoring the speed of the motor,
- means for monitoring an actual position of the actuator, and
- means for providing feedback control to control the drive power of the motor based on the monitored swash angle, motor speed and actual position of the actuator
6 more elements
A method of driving an actuator between a first and second position comprising adjusting power of a variable displacement motor, arranged to drive the actuator, responsive to measurement of a swash angle of the motor.
