Abstract
Oral care compositions and methods for whitening teeth are provided. The oral care composition may include an orally acceptable vehicle, a whitening booster, and a source of hydrogen peroxide. The whitening booster may be dispersed in the orally acceptable vehicle. The whitening booster may include a salt of a monopersulfate, such as an alkali metal salt of the monopersulfate.
Claims16
An oral care composition, comprising:
- an orally acceptable vehicle;
- a whitening booster dispersed in the orally acceptable vehicle, wherein the whitening booster comprises potassium peroxymonosulfate in an amount of 1% to 5% by weight of the composition;
- and
- a source of hydrogen peroxide;
- wherein the source of hydrogen peroxide is cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) hydrogen peroxide complex present in an amount to provide 0.1% hydrogen peroxide by weight of the composition;
- wherein the oral care composition is a tooth whitening gel.
