Abstract
A method and system include a vehicle control system including a multi-vehicle system. The system includes a controller. The controller determines a slack condition of a multi-vehicle system while the multi-vehicle system is parked. The controller determines the slack condition based on one or more sensor signals received from at least one sensor, the controller configured to control movement of the multi-vehicle system based on the slack condition that is determined while transitioning from being parked to forward motion.
Claims20
A vehicle control system comprising:
- a controller configured to determine a slack condition of a multi-vehicle system while the multi-vehicle system is parked, the controller configured to determine the slack condition based on one or more sensor signals received from at least one sensor, the controller configured to control movement of the multi-vehicle system based on the slack condition that is determined while transitioning from being parked to forward motion.
A method comprising:
- determining a current slack state of a vehicle system formed from plural vehicles, the vehicle system in a stationary state and located on a grade, the current slack state indicating one or more groups of the vehicles being bunched together or stretched apart;
- and
- individually controlling one or more of brake systems or propulsion systems of the vehicles to change the current slack state of the vehicle system to a designated slack state while transitioning from the stationary state to a forward movement state of the vehicle system.
A vehicle control system comprising:
- a controller configured to determine a current slack state of a vehicle system formed from plural vehicles while the vehicle system is in a stationary state and is located on a grade, the current slack state indicating one or more groups of the vehicles being one of bunched together or stretched apart, the controller configured to individually control one or more of brake systems or propulsion systems of the vehicles to change the current slack state of the vehicle system to a designated slack state while transitioning from the stationary state to a forward movement state of the vehicle system.
