Abstract
Methods and compositions are provided for the prevention and/or treatment of symptoms associated with lipid accumulation disorders caused by attenuated leptin activity and by lipid storage disorders. The methods involve administering at least one oxygenated cholesterol sulfate (OCS) to a subject with the disorder. The disorder may be acquired or congenital (hereditary).
Claims8
A method of treating leptin deficiency in a subject in need thereof,
- the method comprising elevating in the subject an amount of at least one oxygenated cholesterol sulfate (OCS), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein the elevating is sufficient to treat or alleviate symptoms of leptin deficiency, and wherein the elevating comprises administering the at least one OCS or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to the subject.
