Abstract
In various embodiments, the present disclosure provides methods reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in a subject on statin therapy by administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising about 1 g to about 4 g of eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester or a derivative thereof.

A method of reducing risk of total cardiovascular events in a subject with established cardiovascular disease, the method comprising administering to said subject about 4 g of ethyl icosapentate per day for a period effective to reduce the risk of total cardiovascular events in the subject.
A method of reducing risk of total cardiovascular events in a subject, the method comprising administering to said subject about 4 g of ethyl icosapentate per day for a period effective to reduce the risk of total cardiovascular events in the subject, wherein the subject has diabetes and at least one additional risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
