Abstract
Devices, systems, and methods used to seal a treatment area to prevent embolic agents from migrating are described. The concept has particular benefit in allowing liquid embolic to be used with a variety of intravascular therapeutic applications, including for occluding aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations in the neurovasculature.
Claims15
A device used to treat neurovascular arteriovenous malformations from a venous side of the arteriovenous malformation comprising:
- a microcatheter configured to deliver liquid embolic and dimethyl sulfoxide;
- a mesh catch structure, where a proximal end of the mesh catch structure is attached to a distal portion of the microcatheter;
- characterized by the microcatheter with the mesh catch structure placed on the venous side of the arteriovenous malformation, wherein the mesh catch structure has pores sized to allow the passage of dimethyl sulfoxide but not allow the passage of liquid embolic.
