Abstract
A dimmable induction RF fluorescent lamp comprising a dimming circuit enabling the induction RF fluorescent lamp to dim in response to a signal from an external dimming circuit, and having a main mercury amalgam having a vapor pressure at room temperature which is higher than the vapor pressure of the mercury amalgam formed on the flag.
Claims17
A dimmable induction RF fluorescent lamp, comprising:
- a lamp envelope filled with a gas mixture at less than typical atmospheric pressure;
- a power coupler comprising at least one winding of an electrical conductor;
- an electronic ballast providing appropriate voltage and current to the power coupler;
- a dimming circuit enabling the induction RF fluorescent lamp to be dimmed from an external control dimming circuit;
- a flag within a vitreous portion comprised of an exterior surface which will form an amalgam with mercury;
- and
- a main amalgam including mercury, wherein the vapor pressure at room temperature of the main amalgam is higher than the vapor pressure of a mercury amalgam formed on the flag.
