Abstract
The disclosure concerns a housing for a light source mounted on a substrate, the housing comprising: a barrel comprising a mounting for a diffuser; and a diffuser positioned in the mounting, wherein the barrel comprises first and second conducting columns and a fuse or conductive wire electrically coupling the first and second conducting columns. A portion of the fuse is mechanically fixed to the diffuser and/or the fuse being arranged to trap the diffuser in said mounting.
Claims20
A housing for a light source mounted on a substrate, the housing comprising:
- a barrel comprising a mounting surface and first and second conducting columns;
- a diffuser coupled to the mounting surface in a mounting position;
- and
- a conductive wire covering a perimeter portion of the diffuser, the conductive wire electrically coupling the first and second conducting columns together, a portion of the conductive wire overlapping the diffuser,
- wherein the conductive wire is arranged such that in the event the perimeter portion of the diffuser disengages from the mounting position, the conductive wire electrically decouples the first and second conductive columns from each other.
An electronic device comprising:
- a substrate;
- a light source coupled to the substrate;
- a housing body coupled to the substrate;
- first and second conducting columns coupled to the housing body;
- a diffuser coupled to the housing body in a mounting position, the diffuser having a first surface facing the light source and a second surface that is opposite the first surface;
- and
- a conductive wire electrically coupling the first and second conducting columns together, a portion of the conductive wire being mechanically fixed to the second surface of the diffuser, the conductive wire being arranged to decouple the first and second conducting columns from each other when the diffuser disengages from the mounting position.
A method comprising:
- coupling a light source to a substrate;
- coupling a housing to the substrate, the housing including first and second conducting columns;
- coupling a diffuser to the housing;
- and
- coupling a first end of a conductive wire to the first conducting column and coupling a second end of the conductive wire to the second conducting column, wherein a portion of the conducive wire overlaps the diffuser.
