Lever-type connector

A lever-type connector, comprising:

• a male housing (10) including a tubular receptacle (12) projecting toward a front surface;
• male terminal fittings (15) mounted in the male housing (10) and including tabs (17) surrounded by the receptacle (12);
• a moving plate (18) accommodated in the receptacle (12) and movable between a protecting position where tips of the tabs (17) are positioned through the moving plate (18) and a retracted position backward of the protecting position;
• a cam projection (23) formed on the moving plate (18);
• a lever (24) mounted on the male housing (10) and rotatable between an initial position and a connection position;
• a female housing (40) that is fittable into the receptacle (12) and that includes a cam pin (41);
• a connecting cam surface (29) formed in the lever (24) and capable of pressing the cam pin (41) in a connecting direction while being kept out of contact with the cam projection (23) in the process of rotating the lever (24) from the initial position to the connection position;
• and
• an escaping space (31) formed in the lever (24);
• the cam projection (23) being accommodated into the escaping space (31) while being kept out of contact with the connecting cam surface (29) when rotating the lever (24) from the initial position to the connection position in a state where the male housing (10) and the female housing (40) are separated and the moving plate (18) is at the protecting position.
