Knife gate valve with dead-end service

A knife gate valve comprising:

• a valve body having an interior channel through which fluids can flow, the interior channel divided by an interior channel configured to receive a valve gate, the valve gate configured to travel along the interior channel to open and close the interior channel to fluid flow;
• the valve gate defining an upstream side of the interior channel and a downstream side of the interior channel;
• a movable gate disposed in the interior channel;
• a removable first wear ring disposed on the upstream side of the interior channel, the first wear ring substantially lining the upstream side of the interior channel;
• and
• a removable second wear ring disposed on the downstream side of the interior channel, the second wear ring substantially lining the downstream side of the interior channel;
• a first retainer ring adjacent to the gate on the upstream side of the valve;
• and
• a second retainer ring adjacent to the gate on the downstream side of the valve.
