A device for treating container closures, including sterilizing container closures for closing containers in a beverage filling plant, the device comprising:
- a treatment chamber for treating a container closure;
- and
- a transport device for transporting the container closure through the treatment chamber, the transport device comprising a linear drive operable in a direction of conveyance and in a direction counter to the direction of conveyance.
