Claims20
An absorbent article having a backsheet, a topsheet and an absorbent core disposed therebetween, wherein the absorbent core comprising an absorbent material and at least one longitudinally-extending channel substantially free of absorbent material and wherein the absorbent material comprises superabsorbent polymers;
- the article further comprising:
- a waistband disposed in a back waist region, and
- a fastening system having a fastening tab joined to a back waist region and a landing zone,
- wherein the landing zone forms a part of a front waist region, wherein the fastening tab can be releasably engaged with the landing zone.
A method for making an absorbent structure for use in a disposable absorbent article, the method comprising the steps of:
- a. providing a moving endless surface comprising an absorbent layer-forming reservoirs having one or more substantially longitudinally extending raised strips;
- b. providing a supply of absorbent material comprising superabsorbent polymer particulate material and cellulosic material;
- c. depositing a portion of the supply of absorbent material into the reservoir;
- d. removing absorbent material residing directly above the one or more raised strips;
- e. associating the portion of the supply of absorbent material with a first substrate layer and a second substrate layer to define an absorbent structure comprising a channel therein corresponding to the one or more raised strips;
- and
- f. bonding the first substrate layer to the second substrate layer through the channel, wherein the channel is substantially free of the absorbent material.
