System and Methods for Dynamic Creation of a Geofence for a Location

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon processor-executable software instructions configured to cause a processor in a computing device to perform operations for creating a geofence for a first location, the operations comprising:

• receiving a time that a first vehicle was at the first location from a fleet management system;
• receiving a time that the first vehicle was at a second location from an onboard telematics unit of the first vehicle;
• determining whether the first vehicle was at the second location for a predetermined period of time before or after being at the first location;
• and
• creating the geofence for the first location as including the second location in response to determining that the first vehicle was at the second location for the predetermined period of time before or after being at the first location.

A computing device, comprising:

• a processor configured with processor-executable instructions to perform operations comprising:
• receiving a time that a first vehicle was at a first location from a fleet management system;
• receiving a time that the first vehicle was at a second location from an onboard telematics unit of the first vehicle;
• determining whether the first vehicle was at the second location for a predetermined period of time before or after being at the first location;
• and
• creating a geofence for the first location as including the second location in response to determining that the first vehicle was at the second location for the predetermined period of time before or after being at the first location.
