Transmission device, transmission method, reception device, and reception method

A transmission method for transmitting broadcasting data, comprising:

• encoding the broadcasting data according to a multi-antenna encoding scheme to generate first orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols and second OFDM symbols;
• inserting pilots in the first OFDM symbols and the second OFDM symbols to generate first pilot-inserted OFDM symbols and second pilot-inserted OFDM symbols, respectively;
• generating a first broadcasting signal based on the first pilot-inserted OFDM symbols and first Layer-1 control information;
• generating a second broadcasting signal based on the second pilot-inserted OFDM symbols and second Layer-1 control information;
• and
• transmitting the first broadcasting signal and the second broadcasting signal from a first transmit station and a second transmit station, respectively, wherein
• the first broadcasting signal and the second broadcasting signal are transmitted at an identical time and at an identical frequency band,
• polarized wave of the first broadcasting signal differs from polarized wave of the second broadcasting signal, and
• the first Layer-1 control information and the second Layer-1 control information each include pattern information indicating an arrangement pattern of the pilots.

A reception method for receiving broadcasting data, comprising:

• receiving a first broadcasting signal and a second broadcasting signal via a first antenna and a second antenna from a first transmit station and a second transmit station, respectively, the first broadcasting signal and the second broadcasting signal being transmitted at an identical time and at an identical frequency band, and polarized wave of the first broadcasting signal differing from polarized wave of the second broadcasting signal;
• and
• decoding the first broadcasting signal and the second broadcast signal with pilots inserted in first orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols and second OFDM symbols to generate the broadcasting data, the first broadcasting signal and the second broadcasting signal being generated based on the first OFDM symbols and the second OFDM symbols, respectively, wherein
• density of the pilots in a frequency direction in one of the first OFDM symbols is lower than density of the pilots in the frequency direction in one of the second OFDM symbols.
