Connector

A connector (10), comprising:

• a housing (12) including an opening (24) through which a wire (14) is to be inserted;
• and
• a retainer (16) to be mounted on the housing (12), including at least one locking lance (44) disposed to substantially face the wire (14) and resiliently displaceable in one direction toward the wire (14) and configured to hold the wire (14) by the locking lance (44) resiliently contacting the wire (14);
• wherein:
• the locking lance (44) includes at least one curved portion (60) having a curved shape substantially in conformity with an outer peripheral surface (30) of the wire (14) and at least one projection (64) projecting in a direction opposite to the one direction from the curved portion (60) in a curved direction;
• and
• the housing (12) includes at least one pressing portion (36) configured to resiliently displace the curved portion (60) in the one direction and bring the curved portion (60) into surface contact with the outer peripheral surface (30) of the wire (14) by pressing the pair of projections (60) in the one direction.
