Abstract
A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack that produces electric power and water through an electro-chemical reaction of hydrogen and air. A controller of the fuel cell system calculates an amount of water in the fuel cell stack based on output power of the fuel cell stack and a maximum amount of residual water to which the amount of water in the fuel cell stack converges over time. The fuel cell system may detect the amount of water in the fuel cell stack in real time.
Claims20
A fuel cell system comprising:
- a fuel cell stack configured to produce electric power and water through an electro-chemical reaction of hydrogen and air;
- and
- a controller configured to calculate an amount of water in the fuel cell stack based on an output power of the fuel cell stack and a maximum amount of residual water to which the amount of water in the fuel cell stack converges over time.
A method for controlling a fuel cell system, the method comprising the steps of:
- calculating, by a controller, a maximum amount of residual water to which an amount of water in a fuel cell stack converges as time passes, based on output power of the fuel cell stack;
- and
- calculating, by the controller, the amount of water in the fuel cell stack, based on the maximum amount of residual water and the output power of the fuel cell stack.
