Method and Device for Omnidirectional and Anti-Sabotage Anti-Tampering Detection

A method for detecting a tampering with a security device, comprising:

• generating a magnetic field from a mounting bracket that mounts the security device to a mounting surface;
• detecting the magnetic field at the security device;
• determining changes in the magnetic field that are indicative of a movement between the mounting bracket and the security device;
• and
• determining, in response to the changes in the magnetic field being beyond an allowed range, that the movement between the mounting bracket and the security device is associated with the tampering with the security device.

A security device assembly, comprising:

• a mounting bracket including a knock-out holding a permanent magnet and being attached to a mounting surface;
• a security device that is mounted to the mounting surface via the mounting bracket;
• and
• a magnetic field sensor that detects a magnetic field of the permanent magnet and determines that the security device has been removed from the mounting surface in response to changes in the magnetic field being beyond an allowed range.
