Modular valve with o-ring valve seat

A solenoid operated modular valve, comprising:

• a valve body including an end face, a side face, an inner bore, an outlet port in the end face that is disposed in fluid communication with the inner bore, an inlet port in the side face that is disposed in fluid communication with the inner bore, and a connection end opposite the end face;
• a valve member slidingly received in the inner bore of the valve body, the valve member extending along a longitudinal axis;
• a solenoid including a solenoid body that is connected to the connection end of the valve body and a coil disposed inside the solenoid body that extends annularly about the longitudinal axis, the solenoid being operable to move the valve member relative to the valve body along the longitudinal axis between an open position and a closed position;
• and
• a biasing member positioned in the inner bore of the valve body that biases the valve member towards the closed position,
• wherein the valve body includes an O-ring valve seat that is positioned longitudinally between the inner bore and the outlet port, and
• wherein the valve member includes a tapered end that has a frustoconical shape and a valve member abutment surface that contacts the O-ring valve seat when the valve member is in the closed position and that is spaced away from the O-ring valve seat when the valve member is in the open position.

A solenoid operated modular valve, comprising:

• a valve body including an end face, a side face, an inner bore, an outlet port in the end face that is disposed in fluid communication with the inner bore, an inlet port in the side face that is disposed in fluid communication with the inner bore, and a connection end opposite the end face;
• a valve member slidingly received in the inner bore of the valve body, the valve member extending along a longitudinal axis;
• a solenoid including a solenoid body that is connected to the connection end of the valve body and a coil disposed inside the solenoid body that extends annularly about the longitudinal axis, the solenoid being operable to move the valve member relative to the valve body along the longitudinal axis between an open position and a closed position;
• and
• a biasing member positioned in the inner bore of the valve body that biases the valve member towards the open position,
• wherein the valve body includes an O-ring valve seat that is positioned longitudinally between the inner bore and the outlet port, and
• wherein the valve member includes a tapered end that has a frustoconical shape and a valve member abutment surface that contacts the O-ring valve seat when the valve member is in the closed position and that is spaced away from the O-ring valve seat when the valve member is in the open position.
