Materials and methods for treating cancer, including materials and methods for treating cancer in patients identified as having elevated levels of Bim.

A method for treating a mammal having cancer, wherein said method comprises administering an anti-PD-1 antibody to a mammal identified as containing an elevated level of Bim, and thus identified as being likely to benefit from checkpoint blockade therapy, wherein said administering is under conditions wherein interaction of naturally-occurring B7-H1 with PD-1 in said mammal is reduced.
