Control system for autonomous vehicle

A control system for an autonomous vehicle comprising:

• a motor having a generating function that serves as a prime mover;
• an electric storage device that is electrically connected to the motor;
• a charging system that charges the electric storage device using an external power source located on a road during propulsion of the vehicle;
• a brake device that applies a braking torque to a wheel;
• and
• a steering device that controls an angle of at least any one of pairs of front wheels and rear wheels,
• the control system comprising:
• a controller that controls the prime mover, the brake device, the steering system, and the electric storage device to operate the vehicle autonomously without requiring a manual operation,
• wherein the controller is configured to
• detect a charging zone where the electric storage device can be charged by the external power source, and
• restrict at least any one of a charging of the electric storage device and a discharging of electricity from the electric storage device so as to limit a load factor of the electric storage device to be smaller than a predetermined limit value when the vehicle passes through the charging zone.
