Abstract
This invention provides devices, systems, and methods for performing point-of-care, analysis, including multiplexed analysis, of a biological fluid analyte, such as blood. The invention includes a cartridge for collecting the biological fluid analyte. The cartridge is configured to be inserted into an assay reader, in which one or more assay reactions may be performed. The assay reader is designed to read and report the results of the one or more assay reactions.
Claims21
(canceled)
An assay reader comprising
- a region configured to receive a cartridge;
- a compression mechanism configured to compress the cartridge when the cartridge is positioned in the region after collection of a target analyte, thereby causing two or more assay reactions to be initiated within the cartridge;
- and
- an optical detection system comprising at least one light source and at least one light detection device for colorimetric measurement of assay results corresponding to the two or more assay reactions.
A method of performing a plurality of assays, the method comprising
- receiving a cartridge into an array reader;
- compressing the cartridge via a compression mechanism on the array reader;
- initiating one or more assay reaction as a result of the compression;
- and
- detecting one or more signal changes associated with the plurality of assay reactions.
An assay reader comprising:
- a region configured to receive a cartridge;
- a compression mechanism configured to compress the cartridge when or after the cartridge is positioned in the region after collection of a target analyte, the compression causing one or more assay reactions within the cartridge;
- and
- a detection system for detecting a signal caused by the one or more assay reactions.
