Abstract
Devices used to pressurize, depressurize, or otherwise displace fluid are disclosed. The devices may be configured to displace fluid in order to inflate or deflate a medical device, such as a balloon. The devices further include a crank member for providing a mechanical advantage when pressurizing or otherwise displacing fluid.
Claims20
A steerable elongated medical device, comprising:
- a tube configured to be inserted into a patient's body;
- first and second wires slidably extending longitudinally through a wall of the tube and attached adjacent a distal end of the tube;
- and
- a tension control member disposed adjacent a proximal end of the tube, wherein the tension control member is configured to selectively apply a tension force to the first and second wires to bend the tube.

A method of inserting a medical device into a patient's body, comprising:
- obtaining a steerable medical device comprising:
- an elongate tube;
- first and second wires;
- and
- a steering member disposed adjacent a proximal end of the elongate tube and coupled to the first and second wires;
- inserting a distal end of the elongate tube into the patient's body;
- actuating the steering member, wherein tension is selectively applied to the first and second wires to bend the distal end of the elongate tube;
- and
- directing the distal end to a target location.
