Abstract
A medical device system is provided herein which has an elongated, flexible hollow member with an expandable infusion segment attached at the most distal end of the device. The device has a plurality of fluid infusion ports on the expandable infusion segment for delivering an intended fluid to a target site in a body lumen. Additionally, a method is provided herein for infusing an intended fluid to a target site within a body lumen.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- inserting a catheter into a hollow anatomical structure, the catheter comprising:
- a plurality of expandable arms;
- wherein each of the plurality of expandable arms comprise:
- an infusion lumen;
- and
- at least one infusion port;
- advancing the catheter and the plurality of expandable arms towards a target site;
- expanding the plurality of expandable arms to a first diameter;
- and
- delivering a first amount of fluid through the infusion lumen and the infusion port of each of the plurality of expandable arms;
- wherein the fluid is configured to be delivered towards an undesirable material at the target site.

A method comprising:
- inserting a catheter into a hollow anatomical structure, the catheter comprising:
- a plurality of expandable arms comprised of a shape memory metal;
- wherein each of the plurality of expandable arms further comprise:
- a dedicated infusion lumen;
- and
- at least one infusion port;
- wherein the at least one infusion port is configured to be on an outer surface of the plurality of expandable arms;
- placing the catheter and the plurality of expandable arms at a first position of a target site;
- expanding the plurality of expandable arms to a first diameter;
- delivering a first amount of fluid through the infusion port of each of the plurality of expandable arms;
- wherein the fluid is configured to be delivered towards an undesirable material at the target site;
- and
- placing the catheter and the plurality of expandable arms at a second position of the target site.

A method comprising:
- inserting a catheter into a vessel, the catheter comprising:
- a plurality of expandable arms;
- wherein each of the plurality of expandable arms comprise:
- an infusion lumen;
- and
- at least one infusion port;
- advancing the catheter and the plurality of expandable arms towards a thrombus material;
- expanding the plurality of expandable arms to a first diameter inside the thrombus material;
- and
- delivering a first amount of fluid through the infusion lumen and the infusion port of each of the plurality of expandable arms;
- wherein the fluid is configured to be delivered into the thrombus material.
