Collaborative robot and a method for protecting collaborative robot from hazardous events

A method of protecting a collaborative robot 100 from a hazardous event, the method comprising:

• detecting, by an event detection unit 103 configured in the collaborative robot 100, the hazardous event in a working environment of the collaborative robot 100;
• validating, by a control unit 105 configured in the collaborative robot 100, detection of the hazardous event;
• and
• initiating, by the control unit 105, inflation of a protective fabric 108 housed in a protective compartment 107 of the collaborative robot 100 upon validating the detection of the hazardous event, wherein upon inflation, the protective fabric 108 covers the collaborative robot 100 for protecting the collaborative robot 100 from the hazardous event.

A non-transitory computer readable medium including instructions stored thereon that when processed by a control unit 105, configured in a collaborative robot 100, cause the collaborative robot 100 to perform operations comprising:

• detecting the hazardous event in a working environment of the collaborative robot 100;
• validating detection of the hazardous event;
• and
• initiating inflation of a protective fabric 108 housed in a protective compartment 107 of the collaborative robot 100 upon validating the detection of the hazardous event, wherein upon inflation, the protective fabric 108 covers the collaborative robot 100 for protecting the collaborative robot 100 from the hazardous event.
