Abstract
Provided are ink compositions for making cosmetic contact lenses, as well as cosmetic contact lenses and methods for their preparation and use. The ink composition comprises: (a) a colorant; (b) a hydrophilic polymer; and (c) a binder polymer comprising a triblock polymer of formula: [A]-[B]-[C], wherein [A], [B] and [C] are as described herein.

An ink composition for making cosmetic contact lenses, the ink composition comprising:
- (a) a colorant;
- (b) a hydrophilic polymer;
- and (c) a binder polymer comprising a triblock polymer of formula:
- [A]-[B]-[C]
- wherein [A] and [C] are independently polymeric segments formed from a first hydrophilic monomer comprising functionality selected from the group consisting of hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, and mixtures thereof and optionally one or more second hydrophilic monomers;
- and
- [B] is a polymeric segment formed from a silicone-containing macromer;
- optionally a third hydrophilic monomer comprising functionality selected from the group consisting of hydroxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, and mixtures thereof;
- and optionally a silicone-containing monomer.
