Image capturing apparatus and control method thereof, and storage medium

A method of controlling an image capturing apparatus, the image capturing apparatus including an image sensor that captures an object image formed by the imaging lens and a focus detection unit for detecting a focus position of the imaging lens, the method comprising:

• carrying out focus bracketing in which the image sensor is caused to capture a plurality of images while the focus position of the imaging lens is caused to change by predetermined amounts at a time;
• displaying an image captured through the focus bracketing in a display device;
• and
• causing the display device to display a guide indicating a first area and a second area before the focus bracketing is carried out, the first area being an area in which an object suitable for focus detection of the imaging lens by the focus detection unit is arranged, and the second area being an area in which an object suitable for a user to determine an image that is in focus is arranged.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute the steps of a method of controlling an image capturing apparatus, the image capturing apparatus including an image sensor that captures an object image formed by the imaging lens and a focus detection unit for detecting a focus position of the imaging lens, and the method comprising:

• carrying out focus bracketing in which the image sensor is caused to capture a plurality of images while the focus position of the imaging lens is caused to change by predetermined amounts at a time;
• displaying an image captured through the focus bracketing in a display device;
• and
• causing the display device to display a guide indicating a first area and a second area before the focus bracketing is carried out, the first area being an area in which an object suitable for focus detection of the imaging lens by the focus detection unit is arranged, and the second area being an area in which an object suitable for a user to determine an image that is in focus is arranged.
