Abstract
A client information handling system application selectively communicates network packets simultaneously through plural network interfaces by leveraging network address translation at the network layer of the network packets. Network packets are distributed across the plural network interfaces to achieve desired network communication goals, such as bandwidth, data rates, quality of service, reliability and SAR requirements.
Claims20
A system for communicating between a client information handling system and an external device through plural network interfaces, the system comprising:
- at least one application executing on the client information handling system, the application having an Internet protocol address inserted into network packets communicated from the application towards the external device;
- plural network interfaces integrated in the client information handling system, each operable to communicate with the external device;
- a link aggregation optimizer interfaced with the plural network interfaces and operable to select plural of the network interfaces to communicate the application network packets to the external device by modifying the network packet network layer address information;
- and
- a link aggregation table stored at the client information handling system and relating the application with the modified network layer address information;
- wherein the link aggregation optimizer selects the plural network interfaces to communicate the network information based upon one or more predetermined optimization factors.
A method for communicating between a client information handling system and an external network, the method comprising:
- generating network packets with an application executing on the client information handling system, the network packets having a first source Internet Protocol address;
- analyzing plural network interfaces at the client information handling system for plural predetermined network communication factors;
- based upon the analyzing, selecting one or more of the plural network interfaces to communicate the network packets;
- and
- replacing the first source Internet Protocol address of the network packets with source Internet Protocol addresses of selected one or more plural network addresses to communicate the network packets to the external network.
A method for communication between a client information handling system and an external network, the method comprising:
- establishing plural network interfaces between the client information handling system and external network;
- executing an application on the client information handling system, the application generating information to communicate to the external network and receiving information from the external network;
- analyzing one or more predetermined conditions associated with the plural network interfaces;
- based on the analyzing, selectively directing information from the application to plural of the network interfaces by manipulating a source Internet Protocol address of network packets that communicate the information.
