Optimizing fog orchestration through edge compute resource reservation

One or more non-transitory tangible media encoding logic that includes instructions for execution that when executed by a processor, is operable to perform an operation comprising:

• receiving a request to reserve a fog computing resource for an end device, wherein the request includes a specified future time at which the fog computing resource will be used by the end device;
• determining that sufficient fog computing resources are available at the specified future time on a first fog node of a plurality of fog nodes;
• reserving the fog computing resource of the first fog node for the specified future time;
• and
• transmitting an address corresponding to the first fog node.

An apparatus comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory element storing data, which, when executed on the processor, performs an operation comprising:
• receiving a request to reserve a fog computing resource for an end device, wherein the request includes a specified future time at which the fog computing resource will be used by the end device;
• determining that sufficient fog computing resources are available at the specified future time on a first fog node of a plurality of fog nodes;
• reserving the fog computing resource of the first fog node for the specified future time;
• and
• transmitting an address corresponding to the first fog node.
