Connected automated vehicle highway systems and methods for shared mobility

A shared mobility service provider (SMSP) transportation management system comprising:

• i) traffic control centers/traffic control units (TCCs/TCUs) configured to process information and traffic operations instructions;
• and/or
• ii) a network of road side units (RSUs) configured to receive data from connected vehicles, detect traffic conditions, and/or send control instructions to vehicles,
• wherein said SMSP transportation management system is configured to:
• a) provide vehicles with detailed customized information and/or time-sensitive control instructions for driving tasks;
• and
• b) provide operations and maintenance services for vehicles owned and/or operated by an SMSP.

A method for managing connected automated vehicles with a shared mobility service provider (SMSP) transportation management system, the method comprising:

• a) providing traffic control centers/traffic control units (TCCs/TCUs) configured to process information and traffic operations instructions;
• and/or a network of road side units (RSUs) configured to receive data from connected vehicles, detect traffic conditions, and/or send control instructions to vehicles;
• b) providing vehicles with detailed customized information and/or time-sensitive control instructions for driving tasks;
• and
• c) providing operations and maintenance services for vehicles owned and/or operated by an SMSP.
