Novel compositions useful in treating brain-related diseases or disorders and methods using same

A compound of Formula (II):

• wherein:
• ring A is a monocyclic or bicyclic aryl or a monocyclic or bicyclic heteroaryl ring, and wherein the aryl or heteroaryl ring is optionally substituted with 1-4 R1 groups;
• ring B is a monocyclic or bicyclic arenediyl or a monocyclic or bicyclic heteroarenediyl ring, and wherein the arenediyl or heteroarenediyl ring is optionally substituted with 1-4 R2 groups;
• each occurrence of R1 and R2 is independently selected from the group consisting of C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 fluoroalkyl, C1-C6 heteroalkyl, F, Cl, Br, I, —CN, —NO2, —OR5, —SR5, —S(═O)R5, —S(═O)2R5, —(CH2)0-2NHS(═O)2R5, —(CH2)0-2C(═O)R5, —OC(═O)R5, —(CH2)0-2CO2R5, —OCO2R5, —CH(R5)2, —(CH2)0-2N(R5)2, —(CH2)0-2C(═O)N(R5)2, —OC(═O)N(R5)2, —(CH2)0-2NHC(═O)NH(R5), —(CH2)0-2NHC(═O)R5, —(CH2)0-2NHC(═O)OR5, —C(OH)(R5)2, and —C(NH2)(R5)2;
• R3 is selected from the group consisting of H, C1-C6 alkyl, —OR5, —S(═O)R5, —S(═O)2R5, —C(═O)R5, —CO2R5, —CH(R5)2, and —C(═O)N(R5)2;
• R4 is selected from the group consisting of —OR5, —SR5, —S(═O)R5, —S(═O)2R5, —NHS(═O)2R5, —C(═O)R5, —OC(═O)R5, —CO2R5, —OCO2R5, —CH(R5)2, —N(R5)2, —C(═O)N(R5)2, —OC(═O)N(R5)2, —NHC(═O)NH(R5), —NHC(═O)R5, —NHC(═O)OR5, —C(OH)(R5)2, —C(NH2)(R5)2, C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C10 cycloalkyl, (C4-C10)heterocycle, (C6-C10)aryl, and (C5-C10)heteroaryl, wherein the alkyl, heteroalkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocycle, aryl and heteroaryl groups are independently optionally substituted;
• each occurrence of R5 is independently selected from the group consisting of H, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 heteroalkyl, C3-C10 cycloalkyl, —C1-C3 alkyl-(C3-C6 cycloalkyl), (C4-C10)heterocycle, —C1-C3 alkyl-(C4-C10heterocycle), (C6-C10)aryl, —C1-C3 alkyl-(C6-C10aryl), (C5-C10)heteroaryl, and —C1-C3 alkyl-(C5-C10 heteroaryl), wherein the alkyl, heteroalkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocycle, aryl and heteroaryl groups are independently optionally substituted;
• and
• x and y are independently an integer from 0-4;
• a salt or solvate thereof, and any combinations thereof.
